As you know that Udaipur is the city of Lakes..... So here are some most famous Lakes of Udaipur. 


Pichola Lake :

Oldest Lake of Udaipur that is known for its picturesque background, was built in 1362. It is about 3 miles in length, 2 miles in width n 30 feet in depth. One can easily reach Pichola Lake by taking city bus, taxi...etc from the city. When Maharana Udai Singh founded the Udaipur City, he enlarged this lake. Than he also constructed a Dam made of stone that falls under the Badipol region of the shore of this lake. Pichola lake is enveloped by beautyful Temples, lushy grass, green hills, bathing ghats, lofty Palaces. From the southern part of this lake, on the top of the hill, named Machhala Magra. You can see the fantastic view of EklingGarh fort from there.
The scenic beauty of Lake Pichola attracts every tourist from all over world.














Lake - Fateh Sagar Lake:


It is situated in the north of Lake Pichola, built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678. It got its name from Maharana Fateh Singh who latter made addition to it. It is an artificial n well planned Lake. Fateh Sagar Lake is embellished by three small island, which can reached by boat riding. 






The largest island of this lake is developed into a park named- Nehru Park.

The second island converted into public park. Having brilliant water-jet fountains by Rajasthan Government. The Udaipur Solar observatory is situated in the third island. Which is the best solar observatory in Asia.

Fateh Sagar Lake


Rajsamand Lake :

Rajsamand Lake
Rajsamand Lake is the one of the popular lake of Udaipur. It is located in 66km in north of the Udaipur, lies between Kankroli and Rajnagar. It was built by Maharana Raj Singh in 1660. Length 4 miles n 1.75 miles width with 60 feet depth. 

River Gomti is the main supplier of water to Rajsamand Lake. This lake have glorious Dam, which was built in 17th century. On the southern hand of the lake, the huge embankment made of white marble. It has marble terraces n stone steps that touches the water of Lake.

From here you can see five weighing Arches, where Maharana Raj Singh organized the event- Tuladaan - Kings used to weigh themselves with Gold n then distributed  it amongst the Brahamans.
n also you see there nine pavilions were constructed by Maharana Raj Singh, also known as Nauchowki in Hindi language. The Pavilions are decorated with beautiful Paintings, Chariots, Gods, Picture of Sun, Birds....etc.. 

Here the history of Mewar was described in 1017 stanzas on 27 marble slabs, that are called Raj Prasasti.
